For over 60 years, this busy Eye Hospital has focused on delivering innovative eye care and pioneering breakthroughs in the preservation and restoration of eyesight. We have been recognized internationally and nationally for outstanding patient care, treatment of eye trauma, and crucial research in eye disease. Our outstanding services and accomplishments include:
- One of the few facilities in the world entirely dedicated to advancements in ophthalmology.

- One of only two Level 1 Ocular Trauma Centers in the United States with a 24/7 eye emergency department.

- Home to a comprehensive eye research program and the state’s only accredited ophthalmology training program.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must have graduated from a fully accredited ophthalmology residency program and be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Alabama.
- Candidates must be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
- Additional subspecialty residency or fellowship training is a plus.
- In addition, physicians and other clinical faculty candidates who will be employed by the University of Alabama Ophthalmology Services Foundation (OSF), must successfully complete a pre-employment drug and nicotine screen to be hired.

• More than 10 clinic locations across Central Alabama
• Over 122,000 clinical visits annually
• Over 16,000 surgeries annually
• 17 operating rooms
• 106 licensed beds
• 81 specialized eye beds
• 25 general beds
• Dedicated Laser Center
• Over 2,500 laser procedures annually
Responsibilities:
- This position is full-time, tenure earning at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
- Responsibilities include patient care, with opportunities for didactic and clinical teaching as well as basic and clinical research.
- We seek a highly collaborative individual who has a desire to participate in all three mission areas, including the opportunity to develop a research program.
- There is immediate need to engage in a robust clinical environment.
