This is an exciting opportunity to join the Neurology team and work in one of the UK’s most rapidly developing cities.
Applications are invited for the above substantive post based in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. This is a 10 programmed activity (10 PAs) Consultant post. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute towards the current delivery of both General Neurology out-patient clinics and in-patient support. An interest in epilepsy is desirable but not essential. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in the Neurology on-call rota.
The Clinical Neurosciences Department provides neurological services for Tayside and NE Fife serving a population of over 500,000. It includes Neurology, Neurosurgery, Clinical Neurophysiology, Neuropsychology and the Chronic Pain Service. There are at present 6 NHS and 3 Academic Neurologists; and 1 Neurophysiologist.
Tayside and NE Fife have a variety of attractive amenities. There is a good range of choice in housing, with cost of property renting and buying considerably lower in Dundee compared to both Scottish average and UK average prices. There are a range of excellent schools. There are three universities (two in Dundee and one in St Andrews) with The Times ranking Dundee University 2nd in the UK for medicine. St Andrews is in addition the home of golf. Perth is the gateway to the Highlands with ready access to fishing, hill walking and skiing. The waters of the Tay Estuary and North Sea are ideal for sailing. There is a strong arts and cultural scene in Dundee and surrounding areas. Dundee waterfront has transformed over recent years with the new V+A and continues its transformative re-design as the site for a new Eden Project.
Applicants must be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT or CESR (CP) at the date of interview for the post.
